  1. We adopted my 12 year-old standard poodle from a kill shelter down in Kentucky. It was only 10 pounds which was about 10 to 15 pounds under weight other than still having a mild Giardia which we treated he kept having diarrhea kept losing weight gaining weight and I only can say that elimination diet was the only way blood test nothing could find what was wrong with them. I took them off chicken and everything stopped. I put them on beef. He was fine for a while and then it started again so I figured out he was allergic to chicken and beef. He’s been on turkey ever since I used a prodigal small batch. It’s more expensive but it’s a very healthy food. And for him to get out of the proteins, I rotate in half a cup of kibble a day of Open Farm‘s either the venison lamb whitefish or salmon. The turkey from small batch is lightly cooked. He’s now five years old weighs 60 pounds and his incredibly healthy.
