If your dog spends a lot of time snoozing in their bed, a washable dog bed will last much longer (and stay much cleaner) than one that can’t be easily cleaned. Whether you have a dog who sheds, drools, or likes to chew bones in her bed, a washable dog bed makes cleanup easy for pet parents.
We tested 5 popular dog beds with washable covers at a variety of different price points to find the ones that are worth the money and will hold up to your dog’s daily sleeping routine.
Will vouch for the Orvis product…although it took some moderate effort to put the parts back in the cover, the bed is very high quality. Got ours on sale because it is covered in a hideous, imo, camo print. I do so wish they would sell extra covers…not only so that there would be a variety of colors/designs to pick from, but so that a fresh one could be put on while one is in the wash.. A little surprised that the round bed/cushion made by Muddy Mat was not included.
I was able to buy extra covers for my DogBeds4Less in gray and brown microfiber and a blue vinyl. I seem to recall Kopeks also offers microfiber extra covers. I have gray and brown. Not sure what other colors there are. The XLarge bed I bought was used and had a stain and when I washed it it came right out. The bed looked new.
I bought extra covers specifically so I could immediately recover the beds when I needed to wash covers. When I bought the first one Ramses was a senior and napped a lot so I didn’t want him to be without his bed for the time it took to wash and dry a cover.
Best dog bed with washable cover by far is the Big Barker set of beds. Great orthopedic support.
I love two DogBeds4Less that has a washable cover and a waterproof cover under it to protect the bed and Kopeks, that has the same two covers but has upgraded designs like with bolsters around the side for leaning. I have three of them, a large that was Ramses’ and Xlarge rectangular with bolsters that is for Diana pawPrints and a medium round with bolsters for Freyja Grey.
TheDogBeds4Less one is small enough it fits in the dog crate perfectly and was used when Ramses and Diana were puppies.
I have microfiber covers that wash beautifully. I also bought an extra vinyl cover when Ramses was geriatric in case he had an accident. He never did.
I’m quite happy with the “PetFusion Ultimate Lounge Memory Foam Bolster Cat & Dog Bed” I bought her several years ago from Chew.com. It is similar to the Orvis one described in the article. The removable cover is a thick cotton canvas, easily washable and the bolsters have held up well. And you can buy replacement covers, which I did recently.
