It’s August 8th and no July issue or August issue??? What’s going on?
I like having the print version .. not a fan of reading on a computer.
Can you please tell me when we might be getting notice of a new issue. The last current issue is June 2025. Here we are at the beginning of August, and nothing has been published digitally. This is very disappointing.
My subscription expires May 2026. If there is no other option, I will probably not renew. I’m also not sure if we will be giving WDJ subscriptions this coming
Holiday Season. Understandably, current market conditions, increases in publishing expenses, and recently imposed nation wide costs are not minor issues.
I am encouraged that WDJ is seeking a viable option to exist and continue publishing. For over 20 years Whole Dog Journal has guided me with the information to make sound choices for my current and past best friends. I would do-without something else and pay more for a hard copy versus a digital one.
Count me in as one of the very unhappy subscribers! Hopefully, they get their act together so they don’t lose a lot of faithful readers. I also prefer the printed version even for the higher cost. So far the digital has been nothing but disappointing!
It’s July 31st and no July issue and no explanation – please let us faithful readers know what is going on.
In the months of March, April, May and June, we announced – via email, postings on our site and the pages of our magazine – our switch to a digital only format. We came to this difficult decision after years of continued exorbitant cost increases, particularly postage.
The June issue is the final issue in print or PDF form. We are now publishing nutrition, training and care information for your dog on a weekly basis. In fact, we now produce more content than every before. Paid subscribers can access all of these articles, recommendations and advice on our website. And every Wednesday and Sunday an email is delivered notifying readers of what’s been uploaded to the site in recent days.
And the cost of a Whole Dog Journal subscription is the same as it was more than 25 years ago! And today, our value to dog owners has never been greater. We hope you continue to support our efforts.
Not only am I not getting emails (at all) but I have prepaid through May ’27. I was okayish with digital only so long as there was going to be the option still to download a monthly journal. It appears we have all been mislead and cheated. After all these years, WDJ has become just another disappointment for canine welfare and care.
Count me in as another long time, unhappy subscriber. The print copy more portable you can grab a print copy quickly. Have a preference for something we
can easily read – not off a computer! I too may not renew unless a print version is again available. Willing to pay more, within reason.
Count me in as another long time, unhappy subscriber. The print version is MUCH more portable than even a laptop or tablet. Not about to read an entire issue on my cell phone. I’ll go blind(er) trying. I too may not renew unless a print version is again made available. Willing to pay more, within reason. And here it is now JULY 30 and still no access to a digital issue!
I agree with the comments here!
As a long term subscriber who has been in my breed decades, I subscribed 2 decades ago- since then I’ve retired and have gotten into by breed club, local groups and clubs and do performance. I now have visual issues using a device for very long and am frustrated with their decision as it doesn’t meet their end users needs! Most of us are getting older and want a print copy; this is hard to access in that we don’t know what issue is out- and to use articles to discuss in a meeting, you gamble whether or not you can find it, open it while in a Zoom or con call/ we discuss topics often spontaneously do not having something in print you can grab quickly
And read/ reference is just not workable. Most of us too ate over 50 ~ and have a preference for something we can easily read- not off a device!!
I think the publisher needs to get smart and offer minimally
A print version for an additional charge or lose a lot of subscribers- sad they don’t realize this!!

With the paper version, July and August were combined just like the December/January one. That started about 2 years ago. I’m a paper subscriber too as reading online affects my eyes. I’m being hopeful that the delay in articles is because they are following the format for July/August for digital as they have been doing for the paper version.

I tried to post a similar complaint and it got rejected:
My feeling is still the same-do what you promise that is putting out a pdf monthly for subscribers
